The Style Tyrant

POP-TASTIC!

Last Friday my MacBook and my sanity were put to the test! I won’t go into too much detail since I know Imelda’s just itching to unleash a tirade of cunt-tastic vitriol all over the blogosphere.

I spotted this guy over two weeks ago and I’ve nary an idea what it was about his outfit that piqued the Tyrants eye. I seem to recall walking away thinking he was a hybrid cross of  Transvision Vamp’s Wendy James (hair) and Kurt Cobain (eyewear).

To some, the Cobain reference may seem erroneous, however Cobain - for those of you old enough to remember - had a penchant for the type of gender-bending eye sported by this loyalist.

THE DO-OVER

Two weekends ago I committed a foolish schoolboy error by leaving the house, without checking my equipment.

After pounding the streets for a few hours I finally happened upon Jules. After positioning Jules, I raised the camera to my eye and flicked the ON switch. However, instead of buzzing to life, the camera remained silent.

I was sucker punched by the sinking feeling - I hadn’t replaced the fucking battery!

Tempering my now churlish disposition I sheepishly explained the situation and unlike the Style Tyrant, Jules saw the humour in my transgression.

A few days I later I tagged a sly call-out onto the end of a blog post, hoping that if Jules was now addicted to the Style Tyrant, he would see this and make contact.

Sure enough, a day or so later I received an email from Jules.

Fast running out of content, I suggested a do-over – same outfit, different location – to which he kindly agreed.

Obviously this is a one-of-a-kind post since the lesson I learnt, whilst valuable, now has me checking and then re-checking my equipment with a manic fervour that would shame even the most ardent OCD sufferer.

ZOOT SUIT RIOT

It’s so refreshing to see someone wearing something other than skinny jeans or short shorts on the streets of Sydney.

THE LIFE FANTASTIC

When Tourism Australia asked if I could spend an afternoon sailing around Sydney Harbour with Fashionair Multi-Media Producer, Lindsay Lowe and DV Director Jeremy Elman I hollered, F*CK YES I CAN!

Lowe and Elman had flown in from Melbourne, where with Fashionair co-creator Soojin Lee, they were covering L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival and were now in Sydney, at the behest of Tourism Australia, to film Sydney fashion and lifestyle.

Anyhoo, I’m not about to start banging-on about things non-street style but Kym Ellery (Ellery), Alvin Manalo (Saint Augustine Academy) and Alyx Gorman (Oyster Magazine) joined the cruise for an informal meet-and-greet with the Fashionair team.

Needless to say, fun times and sun burn ensued…sucks to be me, huh?

 

THE CHAIRMAN

I knew from the moment soon I spotted this stylin’ loyalist that today was going to be a good day.

Whilst I certainly won’t be crowing, “the drought has broken” I have managed to refill the bank with some interesting loyalists.

I have no idea of this gents name, a minor detail since he is the physical manifestation of the what the Tyrants believes to be casual perfection.
