EXCLUSIFS DE CHANEL

Last Friday the Style Tyrant received a surprise gift from the house of Chanel. Hidden inside this giant bag was a 200ml bottle of eau de toilette from the EXCLUSIFS DE CHANEL collection of fragrances.

The Tyrant was first introduced to SYCOMORE at an exclusive afternoon tea for bloggers, nearly 2 months ago. In fact it was Chanel’s General Manager of Communications, Susie Stenmark who kicked off my obsession when she suggested the Tyrant might enjoy the fragrances woody notes and before I could reply ‘I’m a Comme man’, I’d been spritzed!

Obviously I’m no beauty expert and for what it’s worth, I’ve always believed that the test of a great fragrance is how the scent evolves over the course of the wear. So when I woke up the following morning to the subtle notes of cypress, juniper and pink pepper, I was sold.

Obviously I wasn’t paying attention because Stenmark and her gorgeous assistant Amiley both explained, that the fragrance could only be purchased from Chanel boutiques (hence it being part of a range called EXCLUSIFS DE CHANEL!?!?!). Had I paid closer attention I would have avoided the embarrassment of approaching a sales assistant at the Chanel concession (in MYER) begging for ‘the fragrance that smelt like a ‘bush fire’…oh yes I did!

I realize this post is couldn’t be further from the Style Tyrant’s usual offering, however I wanted to challenge my photographic skillz and capture the woody masculine tones of vetiver, cypress, juniper and pink pepper that according to the press release, ‘stands on its own, with no frills or timidity and builds up its mystery and lasts.’

FRESH OFF THE VINE

I might be a little too late posting this news - but not everyone follows the Tyrant on Twitter.

Two weeks ago I shot a series of men’s ‘Look of the Day’ for The Vine, styled by ANTM’s new Model Mentor and friend of the Tyrant, the first ‘look’ went live Wednesday afternoon – so check it out!

PIMP MY PLAID

After a week without posting I figure, fuck it! I’m going for gold and dropping a second post.

Two weeks ago my close friend The Likkle Girl was hawking her wares at the Slurry Hills market.

Upon arrival, Likkle eagerly informed the Tyrant that I scope out ‘this old rockabilly in red plaid’. Since she’s a trusted ally (and srsly? Who doesn’t like the sound the of crossing paths with an old rockabilly?) I set off to find my first victim.

No sooner had I left Likkle did I run into Peter.

Before I could spit out my standard ‘I write blah blah blah’ introduction, Peter said ‘I know who you are. You send me emails’. I was like, WTF? Noes I don’t!

Then it dawned on my, Peter subscribes to the Tyrants Feed burner and because I’d posted (much to my chagrin) those personal style posts fillers, my cover was blown.

Agreeing to have his photograph taken, Peter then mentioned that he owns the swimwear brand Men of Blackpool. 

I didn’t get a chance to ask Peter how long he’s been in business etc, but I definitely recall him mentioning that the brand is expanding into apparel (jackets?).

Anyhoo, Peter was totally pimpin’ his plaids (and ya’ll know what HUGE fan the Tyrant is of clashing prints) so I hope he hits me up and gives the Tyrant the skinny on whatever ‘expansion’ plans he has on the boil.
